Early Years Foundation Stage

Pupils achieve a good level of development if they achieve the early learning goal in the following areas: Listening, Attention and Understanding, Speaking, Self-Regulation, Managing Self, Building Relationships, Gross Motor Skills, Fine Motor Skills, Comprehension, Word Reading, Writing, Number, Numerical Patterns, Past and Present, People, Culture and Communities, The Natural World, Creating with Materials, Being Imaginative and Expressive. 

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check

At the end of Year 1 pupils take a phonic test to assess if they have achieved an expected level of phonic understanding. The expected standard is to score 32 or greater out of 40.

Key Stage 1 Teacher Assessments

Children are assessed at the end of Key Stage 1. Children sit Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) in Reading, Spelling and Maths, and their writing is assessed using teacher assessment.  Every school’s teacher assessments are moderated by the Local Authority to ensure they are at the correct standard.

Key Stage 2 Assessments

Children are assessed at the end of Key Stage 2 when they sit Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) in Reading, Maths and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. Their writing throughout the year is assessed using teacher assessment. The school’s teacher assessments are moderated by the Local Authority as well to ensure they are at the correct standard.
